Harlan has become an ambassador for Indigenous youth, serving as a source of inspiration. He gives a portion of his business proceeds back to the community: “A big part of my brand is giving back and making sure the next generation of youth can play hockey.” He also speaks at Indigenous youth events and business conferences to share his story.

Harlan is also educating a wider audience via TikTok. Not all of his followers are Indigenous and he notes that even in 2025, there's so much unknown about the Indigenous culture in Canada. He is sometimes asked by non-Indigenous viewers if it is considered cultural appropriation to wear his gear, to which he responds, “it’s cultural appreciation.”
